Hi, I am Jessie. I am a photographer living in Los Angeles. A lover of fashion, photography & interior design. This is a place for all the sweet things that inspire me.

Where did you get the name Sweet Thing?
It's my favorite song by Van Morrison.

Why did you start blogging?
I was feeling uninspired in my photography career. I knew I needed some sort of creative outlet, but wasn't sure what that could be. It sounds kind of cheesy, but one night I had a dream that I should start a blog. The next morning Sweet Thing was born. At first I had no idea what I was doing. It was just a way to share sweet finds with my friends and family, but gradually it took on it's own life. Starting a blog was the best decision I ever made. It continues to challenge me creatively and has connected me to kindred spirits

How do you put together collages for your blog?
Since I am a photographer, Photoshop is the most comfortable for me. I design all my collages in Photoshop CS5

What camera do you use?

I use a Canon 5D Mark III. I have been a canon girl for as long as I can remember. My dad always used canons and through out my life I was always lucky enough to get his hand-me-downs. I am in love with my camera and all it's capable of. If you are trying to become a photographer I can't tell you how important it is to have a professional camera like this.

What lenses do you use?
I use a Canon 50mm f/1.4 and a 24-70mm f/2.8 for pretty much all my shoots.

How do you edit your photos?
Photoshop CS5. It's my best friend. Having a professional camera and a great lens is extremely important. It ultimately means you can spend less time retouching/editing your photos. But Photoshop can take your photos to the next level. If for some reason you can't afford a top notch camera, then I think it's even more important. It can turn an ok photo into a great photo.

What apps do you use to edit your instagram photos?

Did you go to school for photography?
Nope. Well, unless you count my dad. My dad actually taught my photography class freshman and sophomore year of high school. My dad is an amazing photographer and I've been very lucky to get to learn and work with him my whole life. If you would like to see his work please check out his website GuyWebster.com.
